This CD contains a variety of standards documents gathered from a
number of public sources. Every effort has been made to arrange the
files in a meaningful and useful directory structure. Naturally there
is a "misc" directory that contains things that didn't quite fit
anywhere else.
Previous releases of this disc contained an IEEE directory. We were forced
to remove this at the insistance of the IEEE. So much for the widespread
distribution of standards !
The directories on the disc are as follows:
ansi/ SCSI specs
ccitt/ 1988 Bluebook and 1992 revisions
dos/ DOS tools for untarring and unzipping
inet/ Assorted Internet related material including RFC's, etc.
iso/ Other ISO standards and Drafts
misc/ Things that didn't fit anywhere else
nist/ National Institute of Standards
The file "standard.ind" is a full directory tree listing of the CD.
It shows every file in every directory. The file "standard.dir"
shows the directory structure without enumerating the files. The
file ls_lr is a UNIX(tm) ls -lR listing of the disc. The file
"fullindx.txt" is an alternate complete listing of the CD with
annotations on most of the CCITT documents and many of the ISO
documents.
In the 1988 version of the Bluebook, volume 8, which covers
networking, is only provided in preliminary troff files. These files
are not completely usable as provided, though much of the text formats
correctly. Many of these documents are available in the 1992 versions
in Word for Windows, ASCII, and EPS formats.
The files "standard.ind", "standard.dir", and "fullindx.txt" are in
MS-DOS(r) format with lines terminated by CRLF. The file ls_lr is in
UNIX(tm) format, lines end with LF only.
